As of December 2011, Classic DAKS are being shipped with the new software version 7.6x.
Many innovations have once again been introduced into the new version. The Siemens product name, however, remains unchanged; i.e. DAKS as a Siemens OEM product continues to be marketed under the name OScAR-Pro V3 R2.
The main innovations in brief:
- In addition to the well-known four applications 'Broadcasting/Alerting', 'Emergency and High Performance Telephone Conferences', 'Call Profiles' and 'Info Telephone', DAKS now features two more applications:

Over the last months, Peter Euler from tetronik marketing took the time to hold in-depth conversations with the responsibles at the 5-star RIFFELALP RESORT 2222 m in Zermatt/Switzerland, the refinery PCK Rafferie GmbH in Schwedt/Oder as well as the transmission system operator 50Hertz Transmission GmbH in Berlin. What came out of it, are three user reports in a completely new layout, describing in detail how and why DAKS is being used by the said three customers.
The three new reports will shortly be available for download as PDFs in our Downloads › User Reports section (initially in German language only). |

Against the backdrop of the recent developments in the healthcare sector, the areas covered by IEC 80001-1 and IEC 60601-1-8 (risk management in medical networks and alarm management) continue to gain in importance, also for DAKS.
Therefore, in future DAKS will also be available in a software version as a medical product and as an integral part of a so-called "Trustworthy Distributed Alarm System" (T-DAS). |

The development of the SIP-based (emergency) call station ATEL-IP is well underway.
Starting in the 2nd quarter of 2012, this new vandal-proof call station will become available in different versions:
- with or without alarm button behind break glass
- with up to 4 destination buttons
- with or without prepared announcements for fast alarms at many call stations in parallel, no high bandwidth required
- for flush- or surface-mounting
- with or without moving image color camera (approx. in 4th quarter 2012)
The call station can be used for many purposes, e.g. as door or elevator call station, or in schools as a classroom call station, e.g. in combination with a DAKS-based amok run emergency and crisis communication solution.
Contact us for more preview information on ATEL-IP and on our emergency and crisis communication concepts and solutions. |

The strong trend towards powerful smartphones, both in the company wireless LAN and via GSM/UMTS, continues unchanged. No surprise, therefore, that tetronik gives a high priority to the expansion of the 'DAKS Smartphone Access'.
With the 'DAKS Smartphone Access' within DAKS and the 'DAKS Mobile Client' on the side of the supported smartphones, the following features can now be realized (insofar as supported by the client):
- Variable alarm tone signals – also during already ongoing calls
- Direct text transmission and online user text dialogs with variable soft keys for ACK (e.g. Yes/No), and for automatic call connection to DAKS
- Retrievability of Alarm History
- Transmission of dynamic links (e.g. latest video images or ECG details)
- Presence information (in/out of office) and positioning on the campus (in the wireless LAN)
- Automatic selection of best route to DMC: WiFi as possible, otherwise GSM/UMTS
The first smartphones that were supported were BlackBerrys and the Ascom i75. Newly added is the Ascom i62.
Today, the 'DAKS Mobile Client' for the iPhone, the so-called 'iDMC', is about to be released. This new development also includes the option to use the 'iDMC' also with an iPad, albeit excluding voice.
Starting in the second quarter of 2012, a new 'DAKS Mobile Client' will be available for Microsoft Lync, and plans have been made to support further smartphones. |

The new DAKS application 'Intelligent Calling' enables calls with special features and offers three different modes (two of which in parallel in one server):
- Calling with special features
In this mode, only subscribers listed in a whitelis are called with special features (configurable, e.g. forced release), while all other subscribers are called without. This function is, for example, designed for businesses that do not always want to activate the special calling features, but only when calling specific subscribers, and that also need an easy-to-use option of modifying the whitelist and/or the configured special calling features, without being forced to alter the administration of the PBX system.
- Playback/suppress announcement to called subscriber before call thru-connect
In this mode, the subscriber who is called normally hears an announcement before the call is thru-connected (e.g. that the call will be recorded). Only if the called subscriber is listed in the whitelist will the announcement be suppressed.
- Playback/suppress announcement to caller before thru-connect
In this mode, the calling party normally hears an announcement before his/her call is thru-connected. Only if the caller is listed in the whitelist will the announcement be suppressed.
The second and third function will typically be applied in combination with hotlines where agent-client calls are recorded for quality assurance. Here, clients normally must be informed when the call is recorded, unless otherwise agreed with the client, releasing the hotline operator.
Now, clients communicating with the hotline can call in, or be called, without always having to listen to the same (annoying) announcement first. |
