From November 10-11, 2009 tetronik and Siemens SEN jointly presented the new 'DAKS Smartphone Access' (DSA) applications with great success at the BlackBerry Innovation Forum in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

The 'DAKS Smartphone Access' (DSA) helps to further increase the overall performance of the BlackBerry® handsets.

In combination with alarm scenarios, this constitutes a decisive step to achieve more mobility – beyond and exceeding any campus limits.

The question how to integrate a maximum of services in a terminal currently constitutes one of the leading and most often discussed topics in the world of  telecommunications and IT. It is therefore no surprise that we at tetronik attach great importance to the development of tools that help achieve this challenging goal.

The DAKS solution: The servers and terminals are upgraded and expanded with additional software – DAKS with the 'DAKS Smartphone Access Services' (DSAS), and the terminals with the 'DAKS Mobile Client' (DMC).

The functions of the BlackBerry® already include telephony, SMS, internet access, and e-mail communication. With the DSA ('DAKS Smartphone Access') these functions are further amplified by the additional functionalities of the alarm communication.

The latter include:
• instantaneous text transmission and online confirmation, with variable alarm tone signals depending on the degree of emergency, also directly into already ongoing phone calls
• direct text transmission and online user dialogs, with variable softkeys
• quick build-up of callback calls (e.g. to a patient room)
• fast convocation of emergency conferences for auxiliary teams and responders
• transmission of dynamic links (e.g. dissemination of the current video image or detailed ECG information)
• presence information (in house/out of office) and ability to track a present location of a subscriber throughout a campus, on the basis of the so-called 'Visited Station' (in the wireless LAN)

We are proud to present the following applications:
• transmission of nurse calls to mobile nurses and caregivers, with advanced and intelligent escalation, and callback to the calling patient's room
• placement of transportation orders of a logistics system (via ESPA-X)
• alarm activation from WiFi single button emergency medallions and mobilization of first responders via BlackBerry®, including automatic convocation of emergency conferences
• sending of emergency calls to decision makers, with transmission of confidential payloads using voice only after PIN authentication
