Overview

The demands placed on modern telecommunications today go far beyond simply making telephone calls. DECT telephones are being used as locatable 'personal emergency signaling devices', conferences become more and more efficient and easier to use, IP networks supplement and sometimes even replace classic telephone infrastructures, and the instant accessibility by phone enables the construction of security-relevant systems.

The Digital Alarm and Communications Server, commonly referred to as DAKS or (in combination with HiPath/OpenScape telecommunication systems or networks) OpenScape Alarm Response Professional (OScAR-Pro for short), provides effective solutions to many of these tasks.

DAKS is mainly used for:
• broadcasts and alarms
• telephone conferences
  • either Internet-controlled
  • or centrally administered
• personal security (also in compliance with regulation #139 of the German Employers' Liability Insurance Association, and including the location of distressed subscribers as well as the visualization of the location results)
• announcement and open listening services
• 'one number services' and group calls
• 'telephony access services' for external host systems

System Integration

Through the use of digital cross connections (ISDN [S₀, S_2M] or TCP/IP [SIP(-Q)]) it is as easy to incorporate DAKS in the existing telecommunications infrastructure as it would be to install an additional telecommunications node.

According to the respective task, DAKS can operate either autonomously, linked-up to external systems, or even entirely remote controlled by a host system.

Via its open interfaces (LAN-based, serial, contacts)

• visual paging systems,
• industrial control units,
• building control technology or hazard alert systems, as well as
• dispatch systems (e.g. for fire departments)

can easily be linked to DAKS.
